A number of you have pointed that I managed to get the names wrong for the shows Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Only Murders In The Building in today’s newsletter. It was embarrassing, especially when a publicist for one of the shows reached to nicely suggest that I might be an idiot.
In full disclosure, this is how it happened.
I tend to write my newsletter in one big hunk. While I’ll add the links throughout the day, the big piece at the top is composed pretty much without stopping. Then when it’s done, I take a couple of close looks in hopes of catching mistakes. I run the newsletter through a grammar check which highlights any obvious spelling or grammatical errors. And the final step involves me loading it into Beehiiv (in this case) and sending myself a test email.
That final step is when I usually catch dumb errors that don’t show up in a grammar check. Dumb errors such as an incorrect show name.
But I was having issues with Beehiiv today, I’m still in my learning curve. It took about an hour to figure it out and when I did, I just sent out the newsletter without doing that final test email first.
I won’t do that again.
Thank you for your patience and the kind ways that you told me tonight I was wrong.
Until tomorrow,
Rick
